OK, as I said in a previous post, I’m in Indianapolis for systems training this week, so I’ve been read the Da Vinci Code and watching more TV than I normally do. Last night, on A&E, there was a show called Combat Diary featuring Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines, a reserve unit out of Columbus, Ohio that was deployed to Iraq from February 28-September 30, 2005. They had the heaviest losses of any unit in Iraq (so far) and they have alot of video diary “footage” which lets the public see another, more vivid side of this war. Please watch it at one of these times:

OK, I must admit it is a compelling read. I’m no longer an avid reader, but I managed about 170 pages last night before I went to sleep. My wife finished the book in about a day and a half, but she’s a fast reader. Last year, on our drive to Orlando, she read 3 books. I know why I’m fascinated by the book — because I’ve been interested in the Knights Templar for many years, but why are so many other readers captivated? I think it’s just a well-written book on a universally recognizable subject with a contraversial topic. What do you think?

OK, I’m going to have limited access to ROTM during the next few weeks. I’m in Indy driving for Team Pensky for Systems training 2 out of the next 3 weeks. Unfortunately, I got a laptop without a wireless network card and a hotel without wired access (geez, unless you count dialup at $60/hour).

Pet-peeve P.S. - why, on the side of comercial paper towel dispensers (typically, the ones in restrooms), do manufacturers put a label on the front which says (something to the effect of) “Emergency feed on side - turn knob”? Since when did having to physically turn the knob to get a towel become an emergency??? How about this: Manual feed on side - turn knob” instead? Who’s with me??
