Michael J. Fox revives Spin City!
It appears that Michael J. Fox, the star of Family Ties and Back to the Future fame, has revived his famous role as a political operative in Spin City with his latest commercial endorsing Democratic Senate candidate Claire McCaskill in Missouri. By portraying McCaskill’s opponent, Republican Jim Talent, as an “anti-cure Republican” he has perpetrated an incredible spin on the truth and delivered, perhaps, his greatest performance as a actor.

The fact that Fox has admitted to skipping his meds in preparation for his testimony before Congress is not news, nor is it unfair (IMHO). But to paint a political opponent with the time honored Democratic tactic of “if you vote Republican, people will die” is unfair, grossly unfair. Not only is it disingenuous, it appears to be factually wrong. According to this doctor, Dr. Mary L. Davenport at The American Thinker, his claims are misleading the American public. Furthermore, this response ad from several lesser known celebs appears to be gaining support in Missouri.
While I usually enjoy Mr. Fox’s performances (Stuart Little, Atlantis, Back to the Future, Teen Wolf, The Secret to My Sucess, and Doc Hollywood) and I greatly admire his dedication to finding a cure for Parkinson’s Disease, I find this commercial as distasteful as Senator John Edwards claim that John Kerry, if elected President, would get people like Christopher Reeves out of their wheelchairs.
