Michael J. Fox revives Spin City!

It appears that Michael J. Fox, the star of Family Ties and Back to the Future fame, has revived his famous role as a political operative in Spin City with his latest commercial endorsing Democratic Senate candidate Claire McCaskill in Missouri. By portraying McCaskill’s opponent, Republican Jim Talent, as an “anti-cure Republican” he has perpetrated an incredible spin on the truth and delivered, perhaps, his greatest performance as a actor.

The fact that Fox has admitted to skipping his meds in preparation for his testimony before Congress is not news, nor is it unfair (IMHO). But to paint a political opponent with the time honored Democratic tactic of “if you vote Republican, people will die” is unfair, grossly unfair. Not only is it disingenuous, it appears to be factually wrong. According to this doctor, Dr. Mary L. Davenport at The American Thinker, his claims are misleading the American public. Furthermore, this response ad from several lesser known celebs appears to be gaining support in Missouri.

While I usually enjoy Mr. Fox’s performances (Stuart Little, Atlantis, Back to the Future, Teen Wolf, The Secret to My Sucess, and Doc Hollywood) and I greatly admire his dedication to finding a cure for Parkinson’s Disease, I find this commercial as distasteful as Senator John Edwards claim that John Kerry, if elected President, would get people like Christopher Reeves out of their wheelchairs.

Barack Obama… for President??!

Posted on October 18, 2006 by 6pence.

As the junior Senator from Illinois, Barack Obama has only been in office little more than a year. Yet he is a shooting star in the Democratic Party. Why? Is it his leadership and prowess as a lawmaker in the Senate? His foreign relations experience? His heroic deeds serving his country? No… it is his affable style and charismatic personality.

Thus far, Barack Obama’s major contribution to society as a Senator seems to be his latest book, The Audacity of Hope: Reclaiming the American Dream, fresh from the printers. Oh, politics has been good to the Senator and his wife. According to this Chicago Sun-Times article, their income last year surpassed the seven previous years combined.

During 2005, the South Side Democrat’s income as a public official almost tripled to $154,047, after he left the Illinois state Senate for the nation’s capital.

His wife’s income as an administrator at the not-for-profit University of Chicago Hospitals nearly tripled to $316,962, from $121,910.

In 2005, she was also elected to the board of directors of west suburban Westchester-based TreeHouse Foods, which calls itself the nation’s largest pickle and pepper supplier. For that, she received $12,000 and $33,000 from a subsidiary.

She was promoted to the hospitals’ vice president for community and external affairs in March. Obama said that his wife, who, like him, is a Harvard law school graduate, was deserving of the promotion and raise.

In addition to helping his wife’s career along, the Senate gig also was a windfall as he signed a book deal worth an estimated $1.9 million for a 3 book deal. In 2005, the Sun-Times articles says he earned $1.2 million in advances and royalties.

So aside from the media blitz for his new book, what drives TIME magazine to put him on the cover and ask “Why Barack Obama Could Be The Next President“?

I think it is the same play from the Clinton playbook in 1990-91. Get a charasmatic personality who looks good and has ABSOLUTELY NO RECORD to hold against him to run for President. If you have no record, you can’t be challenged on your votes. For liberals, this is a good thing. Think back to the 1991 campaign. For all of the hoopla about Clinton being the Governor of the poorest state in the nation — do you remember the ‘he knows nothing about foreign policy‘ debate during the campaign? If you don’t, I’ll remind you — Republicans lost out to ‘he’s a breath of fresh air‘ campaign launched by the Dems. The same looks true for Obama. He may just be our next Clinton legacy… and he is Oprah’s favorite guy.

The Ashley Herzog Connection

I know this subject has been debated ad nauseam, but I really need to talk about the Michelle Malkin “photo”. Here’s the photo in question:

Note the picture is askew. That is not my doing — it was either done during scanning or rotated slightly in PhotoShop. Now, I’m certainly not an expert in PhotoShop, but I have used it at work for over 6 years — typically once or twice a month. To my relatively untrained eye, this looked like a fraud from the start. In the first place, her bellybutton seems to be as big as, or bigger than, her eye. Secondly, her upper arms appear larger than her neck! That tells me that the head is not in proportion to the body and is, in all likeihood, from a different body altogether.

Now, of course, we know that the scammed pictures on flickr.com were really photos taken from one Ashley Herzog’s web page.

Ashley Herzog is the real subject of this post. She had her private pictures “liberated” from her web site and morphed into something else in a sophomoric attempt at political sniping. Oh, she did have this one picture on her and Michelle taken together at an event, but the rest of the photos with Michelle were faked.

Here is one photo of Ms. Herzog and 2 of her friends at a Bush rally in 2004:

How’s that for a picture? Three young, vivacious, conservative women who are, obviously very smart and politically active — this is the new face of the Republican Party!!

Ashley Herzog is also a student at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and she is majoring in journalism!! Maybe there IS hope for the media and academia in America!! Way to go, Ashley!

By the way, my sincerest apologies to 6pence and the faithful readers of Rodeo of the Mind, I was away for a brief while and have neglected my new duties here!
