This is an open letter to our elected representatives in Congress:
Dear Senators and Representatives:
We The People of the United States of America do not want war. We do not want a war in Iraq. We do not want a war in Afghanistan. We do not want a war with Iran, nor Syria, nor Lebanon. We do not want our courageous young mean and women in the Armed Forces killed, injured, or scarred by the horrors of war. We are a peaceful nation — wanting only to exercise our personal freedoms, and to pursue our individual dreams, without government oversight, religious mandate, or international interference.
Some of us voted for George W. Bush and some of us did not, but we are all unhappy with the current state of affairs. Too many Americans have lost their lives on foreign soil because of the way this war has been managed. On these things, I think, all Americans can agree.
Let us now discuss 4 items on which we do not agree:
1) There are those among us who believe the Unites States should not be supporting Israel. I am incredulous at this position. Israel is the only participant in the Middle East who has consistently supported U.S. interests there. They have repeatedly shown their willingness to negotiate with their adversaries. They have granted Arabs unprecedented access to Islamic holy places within the occupied territories and they, like we Americans, want to peacefully coexist with their neighbors — they are not on a theological quest for world domination. Furthermore, they are, religiously speaking, the closest “relatives” we have in the region. I find the concept of not supporting Israel totally unacceptable, both morally and politically.
2) There are those among us who believe that the world in general, and the United States in particular, are less stable and less “safe” now than before the Global War on Terror began. They directly attribute this notion to America’s military participation in the War on Terror and directly blame George W. Bush for the situation. These American Blamers, however, cannot reconcile one simple, yet formidable, fact: since our military involvement in the War on Terror, the U.S. has not been attacked on our own soil. Although more than 3,000 soldiers have been killed overseas, there have not been any attacks here at home. The strategy is working — take the fight to their homeland and our shores will be safer.
3) The American Blamers also condemn U.S. foreign policy as being oppressive in the world and biased against Muslim interests, which (they say) fosters anti-American sentiment. We’ve all heard, or read of, some celebrity, politician, or academic who points to the events of Sept. 11th, 2001 and say that it was the result of American aggression and influence. These American Blamers say that the attacks were not only predictable, but that they were not unreasonable, nor unprovoked. To these American Blamers I say “Bull shit”!
First of all, radical Islam has been conducting anti-non-Muslim military and terror campaigns for centuries as a matter of religious dictate. America has only existed for little more than 200 years and has held superpower status for only the last 60-70 years. While America has had a history of interfering with foreign governments during that time — a fact we cannot deny — we can honestly say that America has, more often than not, extended a helping hand to those in need of food, medicine, shelter, or protection. America has freed more people from the shackles of oppression, and provided more immigrants with greater opportunities than any other nation in the history of the world. To say that “America deserved to be attacked” is not only self-serving, and morally repugnant, it is intellectually and historically dishonest.
4) There are those among us who believe that America should make peace with the Islamic nations in the Middle East. There is nothing we Americans would like more than to peacefully coexist with our global neighbors, but the radical Islamic Fascists of the Wahhabite sect are not interested in peaceful coexistence, nor honest negotiations. Their religious dictate is to eradicate all non-Muslim society. That means all Jews, all Christians, all Buddhists, all wiccans, everyone. This is a threat to not only America, but every non-Muslim culture and nation in the world. You can call it Evil. You can call it Fascism. You can call it fanatical. Hell, you can even call it Religious Diversity if you please… but it is a real threat and you had better deal with that fact! Remember, peace is NOT the absence of war. If you learn nothing else from history, you should know that fact!
On these 4 points, We The People of the Unites States of America, seem to disagree. I don’t know why we disagree. Many of us find these points to be self-evident, but the talking heads of the main stream media, the celebrities of Hollywood dream factory fame, and the academics of modern institutional indoctrination and education, do not agree.
Obviously, they pale in comparison to the elitism of being a member of Congress. But you have a unique opportunity. You can send more troops to the Middle East. You can send a message to not only America, but to Iran, Syria, Lebanon and Israel. You can decide to save western civilization by reducing this threat now or you can take the politically correct path. In short, you can vote to Support The Mission or you can Vote Against Victory. Think about how will history remember your actions.
