Gary likes Obama — WHY?

I visited my friend, Jane, at her site (http://seejanemom.com) today and a regular contributor named Gary wrote the following:

I myself am supporting Obama at this point, unless Gore jumps in. The next President, however, will probably be Hillary, which should be fun for conservative bloggers.

This got me thinking, so what I want to know from Gary is this — just what about Barrack Obama do you like? Is it because he’s younger? Because he’s Black(ish) and (I’m told) good looking? Because he’s had exposure to the Muslim religion? What is it about this guy that makes the Left orgasmic about his candidacy?

I’m from Illinois and to me, he’s just another fake Liberal suit playing the “I’m from the Government and I’m here to fix your life” card. Illinois politics is SO F**KED UP that I probably wouldn’t vote for ANY Illinois politician for national leadership (Democrat or Republican) right now! Here’s the run down on Illinois politics:

We have Rod Blagojevich as Governor. He’s the guy who insists on living in Chicago instead of the Governors Mansion in Springfield (the state capital). He’s the typical “spend more, tax more” liberal. He always has an affable smile on his face while he’s taking your money and your liberties…

We have US Senator Dick Durbin. The liberal Democrat who follows the leftist mantra — gun control, universal health care, American soldiers are like the Nazis of Germany, blah, blah, blah… He’s SO PREDICTABLE that I can reliably predict his voting record within 5% points.

We have Emil Jones, Jr. as the President of the Illinois Senate. He’s the jerk visionary leader who “coerced” the University of Illinois into dropping its Native American symbol (which was favored by 80% of the IL population) by saying he’d cut the funding to the state’s flagship university if they didn’t. That’s blackmail and typical Chicago politics. it should be noted, at the same time, he dramatically increased the state funding (to the tune of $200 million dollars) to a smaller university (Chicago State University) in his home district. Coincidentally, Chicago State University is now home to the Emil and Patricia Jone Convocation Center. He also blocked a rate freeze on electrical rates (which in some cases resulted in a 55% rate increase) for ComEd customers in Chicago. Is it coincidence (again) that Jones had something to gain from the deal? It turns out his stepson has a consulting contract with ComEd at the same time. Emil Jones

We also have Michael Madigan, the leader of the Illinois General Assembly. He’s a liberal Chicago Democrat who’s looking downright “conservative” compared to his contemporaries on the scene. His daughter, Lisa Madigan, is (again, coincidently) the Attorney General for the State of Illinois. He has aspirations of her being the next Governor of the State and that puts him at odds with both Blagojevich and Chicago’s ultimate power broker, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley. Ultimately, this adversarial role between the various liberal Chicago Democrats is good for Illinois is some respects — they often times keep each other from passing ridiculous bills and extraordinarily expensive budgets.

Although Gov. Rod Blagojevich wanted to pass a $5,000,000,000.00 tax increase on business this year to fund “health care reform”, it was defeated in the legislature. It took the liberal Chicago Democrats several months into the next fiscal year to pass a new budget… and what did the Governor do? He summarily cut $500 million dollars of “pork” from various programs (Boys and Girls Clubs, literacy groups, etc.) using a “line item veto” and then budgeted that $500 million dollars into a scaled down version of his health care package. Now, you can imagine, that didn’t sit well with anyone (well, except the health care providers I suppose). Here’s a Governor bypassing all legal protocol and claiming he has the executive privilege to craft whatever budget he wants (AFTER the General Assembly and Senate passed a compromise budget!). Law suited have been filed… stay tuned on this situation. In other legislation, Illinois leads the way too. I just last night heard an interview with the Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS), Michael Chertoff, who said that Illinois has recently passed legislation which PROHIBITS business leaders from using the new DHS tools to combat illegals from getting American jobs. This encourages illegals to apply for jobs in Illinois. We also have (legislation referred to as) the “Acevada Act”. This allows illegal immigrants (or a portion of them) to obtain in state (resident) college tuition.

I just don’t get Illinois politics anymore. It has become SO SCREWED UP that it’s almost comical… why would you want something that’s a part of this mess to be your new leader in Washington, DC?

What did it for me in terms of supporting Obama was reading two speeches of his. One was his recent speech on the war in Iraq. The other was a speech on Iraq he gave before the war, when he was not yet a Senator.

Liberalism is about being at the center of the universe with no greater cause than ones self or accountability. It’s the easy way out for them. It’s folks like Obama and Hillary that know this and are taking full advantage of brain dead Americans.

To many inept thinking Americans feel the government should take care of and think for them not fully grasping that they are voting for modern day communism not to mention all the immoral aspects of it. Zero fundamental understanding of what has made this country great.

Sounds like Illinois is being fatally overwhelmed by this cancer.

While the socialist agenda of the Dems is a crappy deal for America, I have to actually agree with Gary on this one. Obama has been consistent. He’s been a consistently far left stuffed suit from the start.

I don’t understand why people vote republican. And I must ask why Republicans must constantly make socialism sound so good. Every time there is a good solid program that I support people start screaming “socialism socialism”.

If the next generation elects a socialist president you only have yourselves to blame.

            Thanks for visiting, Dania!

Unfortunately, I do understand why people vote democrat. They like a free lunch and the liberals make it sound like that’s just what they’ll get — “you want free health insurance — VOTE democrat!” The truth of the matter is that there are no free programs — you pay for them, I pay for them and what’s more, because it’s run by an inept government system, we tend to pay 10X more than we should. So much for the “free lunch”, Dania.

Voting republican is pretty easy to understand — we stand for smaller government (i.e. more freedom to do what YOU want with YOUR money and YOUR life) and for a level playing field — using a sports analogy — we don’t believe each player should made a starting player on the team (which is what the liberals offer when they say something outlandish like “free healthcare”), but we believe everyone should be allowed to try out for the team if they want to — not everyone will excel at this sport, but everyone should be given the opportunity to excel.

That’s the difference between the liberals and the conservatives (or democrats and republicans as you use the terms).

Again, thanks for stopping by, come again!

Quick story: My sister’s dentist employer built a clinic in Romania. It initially started as an outreach program for the mass numbers of orphans infected with AIDS and hepatitis because of the government not using clean needles for vaccinations. Cutting costs, you know. Anyhoo . . . since those children are now mostly dead, they have changed the focus of that practice. They now serve as pediatric dentists, functioning in the standard capitalist form. Recently, one of the office managers from here, traveled to the clinic to try and teach them how they need to be billing out more than what their expenses are. They can’t comprehend it. They are a generation raised in communism and do not understand that they are expected to turn a profit. Socialism is the act of a government enabling and justifying sloth. Capitalism breeds productivity. Rarely do you hear of anything ground-breaking coming from a socialist country.

Don’t they have speech writers who do these speeches for them? Who really knows whose ideas you’re liking? I think politicians would say almost anything to be elected!
